"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
Winston Churchill

The Woodcote Flying Club gained its roots from the Second World War when it was originally used as the Officers Mess for the RAF bases at Kenley and Croydon aerodromes. It was purchased in 1946 after the war by Warrant Officer Buck and became a Private Members Club and local residents used the facilities along side the Officers. In 1962 Vera and her husband took over the premises and 25 years later David Young became the owner of the business which was known as The Woodcote Club.
It continued to be run as a Private Members Club for the next 25 years when it was taken over by Teresa and Steve Green in 2012. Teresa is very keen to keep with Tradition and in keeping with its RAF roots changed the name of the club to The Woodcote Flying Club.
The logo of the Club is now formed of the colours of the combined services in recognition of our country’s armed forces and a large oil painting of a Spitfire in flight has been commissioned from a local artist Steven Goring.
It continues to be run as a Private Members Club and provides a family, pet friendly environment for members new and old.
